My relationship with drawing is one of purposeful awareness. Drawing helps to be in and with the moment, to slow down my pace and thoughts and reconnect with myself and the present. That is why I draw in situ or in live music performances, to try and capture the authentic rawness of the instant.
For example, both hands are guided by motion if I am in a transport or respond to sounds if I am at a gig. I trust what I feel rather than what I see, and I hope that the drawings reflect the improvised, intuitive and meditative approach of my practice.
