A Linear Depiction of Time connects with the elemental feeling of nature: snow, ice, stone, sand, wood, all natural materials found in the environment.  Created during 2020/21 they form part of an ongoing series of work that features the upward trajectory of climate change graphs.

The work is centred on what it is to be alive now with reference to the past and the future. It grounds scientific data in a natural context, considering the human and the non human actions that contribute to the tipping point we have now reached.

The arts can show us a pathway out of the superficial world we live in. Art can allow people the possibility to pause, to take a moment to connect with an artwork and maybe find a way into a more profound way of thinking, a chance to feel compassion and empathy. In this individualistic society we need to consider the part we play in the bigger picture, maybe this is the moment to reassess detrimental behaviours and let them go.
